“Connecting with employees in their environment is a top priority to me and I make a point to walk around the office every day.”
“I came to Wolters Kluwer with more than 17 years of industry experience. I have been with Wolters Kluwer for 2 years. I was recruited to the organization. My group is tasked with turning years of accumulated data exhaust from millions of legal service transactions into insights that drive core process redesign and customer segmentation with scalable workflow solutions.

In 2014, my role expanded to include leadership over the creation and operation of the Corporate Legal Services Fulfillment Center of Excellence (FCOE), which brings together the corporate operations and fulfillment capabilities that support the business brands to maximize quality, consistency and speed in the delivery of solutions to CLS customers.

Connecting with employees in their environment is a top priority to me and I make a point to walk around the office every day as well as visit with employees while on location in other offices. Understanding the deep-domain expertise across the business portfolio is one of the greatest strengths and opportunities. I enjoy working with the team to leverage that information with transactional data points.

Both groups work across the portfolio of business brands and my team has the great pleasure of interacting with almost every function within those brands. I also take the time to connect with professionals outside of the organization to learn best practices and bring that information back to the team. Our Division’s customers are legal professionals, risk and compliance officers and financial service professions.

Within the legal community in particular, professionals are learning that information is generated in massive amounts and only now are trying to figure out how to translate data points into actionable insights. Experts in data science have an opportunity to make an impact, and make their mark, working with an industry that is at the tipping point of understanding the benefits for big data.

As a leader of two groups, I spend a lot of time working closely with HR on recruitment efforts. We have figured out that technical skills of data science can’t be taught - but what we can teach is nuance of specific industries. So as far as recruiting goes, we look to hire talent that’s willing to apply what they already know (data disciplines) to a new industry and pair raw talent up with people who are willing to teach and learn. Talented people from data-savvy industries - mainly, financial services - coupled with experts or academics in computer science and big data modeling make great additions to this data revolution at Wolters Kluwer Corporate Legal Services.”
